JFF Pay-for-Performance — AI, Semiconductor, and Nuclear Infrastructure

Jobs for the Future received a $40 million federal award to administer a national pay-for-performance program. That figure is the administrator award, not a payment to one sponsor. JFF has not published a per-apprentice incentive amount.

JFF’s announcement describes occupations that build and maintain artificial intelligence infrastructure, semiconductor manufacturing, nuclear energy, and related technical infrastructure. That is broader than software or AI engineering. Depending on the final eligibility rules, work may include electrical trades, industrial maintenance, advanced manufacturing, and infrastructure. Those examples are not a formal eligible-occupation list.

JFF’s announcement names eight partner organizations: Apprenticeship Alliance, the Center for Energy Workforce Development, Global Electronics Association, Independent Electrical Contractors, JobForward, NIICA, NextFlex, and the University of Cincinnati.

Prepare your apprenticeship program

While formal applications are being finalized, Registered Apprenticeship sponsors can prepare by reviewing program eligibility and organizing the records typically needed to document apprentice participation and performance.

1. Confirm your organization's Registered Apprenticeship sponsor information.
2. Review which occupations and locations are eligible for the incentive program.
3. Identify apprentices or future apprentice cohorts that may qualify.
4. Maintain accurate apprentice registration and enrollment records.
5. Track employment and retention dates.
6. Document related instruction, on-the-job learning, and completion milestones where applicable.
7. Review the administrator's official requirements as they become available.

This is preliminary preparation. Administrators will not all ask for the same documents.

JFF has said the program will serve Registered Apprenticeship sponsors and employers nationwide. Formal occupation, location, and sponsor rules are not published as an application checklist yet. An interest form is not an eligibility determination.
