Overview

Westinghouse Electric Company’s apprenticeship programs provide a structured pathway for developing skilled maintenance professionals through a combination of hands on training and formal technical education. Delivered in partnership with the South Carolina Apprenticeship Program and Midlands Technical College (MTC), the programs prepare apprentices to meet the technical, safety, and quality expectations of nuclear fuel fabrication operations while building long term career opportunities in the skilled trades. The Industrial Mechanical Maintenance and Industrial Electrical Maintenance apprenticeship programs focus on competency based skill development, including preventive and corrective maintenance, equipment diagnostics, and mechanical and electrical fundamentals. By integrating classroom instruction with real world application at the Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility, these programs strengthen internal and external talent pipelines and help ensure a reliable supply of highly skilled technicians to support the continued success of the nuclear industry. “At the Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility (CFFF), our apprenticeship program is about investing in our people and giving them the tools to build long, meaningful careers. The program provides employees with hands on experience, structured training, and pathways for advancement, allowing them to grow their skills while contributing directly to our mission. By developing our talent, we create a stronger, more engaged workforce and ensure critical knowledge is passed on to the next generation. This commitment not only benefits our employees but also supports the industry’s growing need for highly skilled craftsmen and technicians.”
