Overview

Education Provider: Rosalind Gamble, M.A., Mental Health Counselor and Case Management Provider Seed Time To Harvest Residential Behavioral Health Services, Inc. launched its firstApprenticeship program on January 19, 2026, in an effort to bridge the gap within the medical field in rural Williamsburg County to assist community members who often find it difficult to navigate the healthcare system. Through an outreach initiative, a total of seven Apprentices met residents within their homes and communities, and through compassionate listening conducted needs assessments. The apprentices provided educational resources on health and wellness, disease prevention, telemedicine, and benefits of wearable devices to enhance individual quality of life. They supported and empowered residents to become proactive and take ownership of their health by assisting with resource connections such as enrolling with healthcare programs, scheduling medical appointments, identifying food programs, and transportation. Under the mentorship of skilled practitioners, the apprentices were able to gainnot only soft skills training but also acquire practical skills; applied field experience and strong insight into community needs fostering meaningful local ties and establishing themselves as valued partners in the neighborhoods they supported. With a solid foundation of practical skills and professional relationships, two (2) of the apprentices have decided on a career change into the healthcare field. Another apprentice has decided to pursue further education to become a Nurse Case Manager. Another will be pursuing further education as a pharmacist. Three others will continue to volunteer their time as Community Health Workers (CHW).
