The University of Southern Maine is committed to addressing the teacher shortage in Maine through innovative educator apprenticeship programs. In collaboration with the University of Maine at Farmington, these initiatives are designed to recruit, train, and retain special education teachers for elementary schools in the Portland area.
With recent grants awarded to enhance apprenticeship opportunities, USM is dedicated to fostering a new generation of educators equipped to meet the diverse needs of students. This program not only supports aspiring teachers but also strengthens the educational community in Maine.
