Overview

Sometimes referred to as the construction industry’s “finishing force”, it is essential that the modern union plasterer is taught an array of skills, along with safety training that is second to none. As one of the nation’s most comprehensive plastering apprenticeship training programs, Plasterers’ Local 200 instructors are dedicated to teaching workers state-of-the-art techniques in craftsmanship and safety.

The Plastering Apprenticeship Training Program is a 4-year program consisting of 600 hours of classroom training and 6,816 hours of on-the-job training. Training classes are held year-round and are mandatory for all apprentices. Under the guidance of a credentialed instructor, apprentices will receive classroom and hands-on training.

Plastering is the art and skill of applying various materials over various surfaces. Plastering produces both exterior and interior walls, ceilings, and other surfaces in the construction or remodeling of a diversity of structures. The plasterer of today uses materials that require modern equipment, new techniques and proper training .
