These days, the electrician profession is widely popular and in demand. However, it takes years of training to become an electrician. The first step to a career as an electrician is through apprenticeship. Apprenticeships include on the job and related instructional training. Related instructional training is achieved by attending classes through The Area 1 Inside Electrical JATC program.

Electrician apprenticeships generally last 4-5 years and will involve all necessary training for the daily duties and projects, including connecting wires, testing circuits, use of blueprints and much, much more. Solid knowledge in math will go a long way in a career as an apprentice. If you're still in school make sure you work hard on getting good grades in Algebra 1 and above classes.
