Kansas Municipal Utilities (KMU) is dedicated to developing skilled professionals through its comprehensive apprenticeship program. This program focuses on essential trades, including Control and Valve Installers and Repairers, Electrical and Electronics Repairers for powerhouses and substations, Electrical Power-Line Installers and Repairers, and Power Plant Operators. With a commitment to hands-on training, apprentices benefit from practical experience in a supportive environment.
Recently, KMU's training center in McPherson hosted its largest Electric Distribution Overhead Workshop, where 59 apprentices refined their skills under the expert guidance of 10 instructors and four KMU staff members. This initiative underscores KMU's ongoing commitment to workforce training and community service, ensuring that the next generation of utility professionals is well-prepared to meet the demands of the industry.
