In this position, you will be responsible for the creation, restoration, and upkeep of production tooling across a range of precision requirements. Your scope of work encompasses assembly tools, inspection gages, special fixtures, and production components. Core Responsibilities: Analyze and interpret technical drawings, including those utilizing geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Utilize various shop equipment, such as mills, lathes, grinders, and saws, to produce parts meeting exact specifications. Apply your understanding of tool steel varieties, their specific uses, and appropriate heat treatment methods. Ensure the proper handling and labeling of all waste and materials in accordance with supervisory guidance. Work alongside management to support the design, implementation, and ongoing refinement of production processes. Take an active role in leading and participating in continuous improvement projects to drive operational excellence. Develop the operational sequence required for fabrication tasks. Validate part dimensions using precision tools like micrometers, calipers, comparators, and gauge blocks to ensure high-quality output. Carry out routine preventive maintenance on all tool room machinery to ensure equipment longevity. Share knowledge and collaborate with team members, including apprentices and fellow toolmakers, to foster a cross-functional learning environment. Follow all established process standards with precision. Utilize Lean methodology to improve workflow efficiency. Promptly notify a Lead or manager regarding any hazardous or suspicious workplace conditions. Uphold all safety and quality protocols by strictly following Click Bond procedures to ensure a secure environment for everyone. Keep your workspace organized, tidy, and free of potential hazards. Demonstrate self-motivation and attention to detail while working effectively with peers and management. Complete additional tasks as assigned. Required Qualifications: To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the following skills: Consistently perform all essential job functions independently, safely, and accurately, while protecting shop equipment and tools from damage. Apply shop math concepts, including trigonometry, geometry, and algebra. Proficiently operate calipers, micrometers, comparators, and drop gages. Possess a foundational understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite. Prior experience with CNC and CAD is considered an asset. Demonstrate the ability to read and write in English. Education and Experience: A High School Diploma or G.E.D. is mandatory. At least 4 years of relevant toolmaking experience or an equivalent combination of training and work history. Possession of a Manufacturing Technician (MT1) certification, NIMS certification, Machine Tool Technology Certification, or equivalent experience is required. Completion of a formal apprenticeship is preferred. Physical Requirements: The following physical demands are necessary to perform the essential duties of this role.
