Groundman/Laborer (line worker pre-apprentice) Requirements · Must have or be willing to obtain a Class A CDL within 90 days of hire · Positive attitude · Ability to understand and do simple math · Ability to understand and distinguish colors of utility flags and markings on the ground · Good written and verbal communication skills · Must be able to bend and carry up to 50 pounds, lift up to 100 lbs. to waist, and 50 lbs. above your shoulders · Organized and detail oriented · Basic inventory skills · Good hand eye coordination · Ability to learn and decipher hand gestures · A team player who wants to learn a craft and be successful · Must be able to work long hours in all weather conditions · Must be able to pass pre-employment and random, continued drug screenings · Some travel may be required Duties As a groundman for Voltage you will be part of a team and assist line crews in day-to-day construction tasks. These include but are not limited to digging trenches, digging holes, mobilizing equipment, operating equipment, framing and setting poles, pulling overhead and underground wire, cleaning jobsites, etc. Basic knowledge of common tools and construction methods is preferred. You will be required to cooperate in the daily safety meetings. Voltage has a certified lineman apprenticeship that is available to employees who successfully complete their time as a groundman.
