Security Systems Apprentice / Alarm Technician Helper United Security Alarm, Inc . - Southeast Louisiana United Security Alarm, Inc., a low-voltage systems integrator serving Southeast Louisiana since 1991, is looking for a dependable and motivated Security Systems Apprentice to join our team. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone eager to learn a skilled trade and grow into a full Security Systems Technician role. You will assist experienced technicians with the installation, service, and maintenance of burglar/intrusion alarm, fire alarm, access control, CCTV/video surveillance, and life-safety systems. Typical Schedule Monday - Friday | 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Full-time, stable weekday schedule Key Responsibilities Assist technicians with installation, wiring, mounting, testing, and servicing of alarm, access control, CCTV, and fire/life-safety systems Help troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance under supervision Pull cables, organize materials, and transport tools and equipment to job sites Maintain clean, safe work areas Learn system programming, testing procedures, and industry best practices Complete basic paperwork and assist with job documentation and service records Communicate effectively with technicians, customers, and office staff Follow all company safety policies and procedures Required Qualifications Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation (work is on the road throughout Southeast Louisiana) Good driving record Must be eligible for licensing (no criminal background) Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in electrical, low-voltage, or security systems work Willingness to learn, follow instructions, and develop technical skills Dependable, punctual, professional attitude with a strong work ethic Good communication skills and team-oriented mindset Ability to lift equipment, climb ladders, and work in various indoor and outdoor environments Basic hand tools preferred (or willingness to obtain them) Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as an alarm technician helper/installer or in a related hands-on field (construction, electrical, telecommunications, cable installation, telephone systems, computer networking, etc.) Basic knowledge of wiring, hand tools, and power tools Familiarity with intrusion detection, access control, CCTV, or low-voltage systems (a plus, but not required) Interest in building a long-term career in the security systems industry What We Offer Stable full-time weekday schedule Hands-on training and mentorship from experienced technicians Exposure to a wide variety of security and life-safety systems Clear path for advancement into a full Security Systems Technician position Supportive team environment focused on quality workmanship and professional growth Work Location: On the road - serving customers throughout Southeast Louisiana If you are mechanically inclined, motivated to learn, and ready to start a rewarding career in the security systems industry, we want to hear from you.
