The Plate Maker Apprentice is responsible for operating the CTP Plate Setter for offset printing process. This position reports directly to the Graphics Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
Operates the Computer to Plate “CTP” unit called the Magnus. Checking chemicals, handling and moving metal plates to pressroom staging area and recycle area.
Maintains accurate records and documentation of all work performed during the platemaking process.
Make all plates and verify they are accurate to customer approved proof, die vinyl and blanket.
Remake any Die vinyls and blankets.
Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, safety rules, security procedures and instructions.
Perform all duties according to established safety policy, including wearing all required PPEs to perform duties.
Perform other duties assigned by Graphics Supervisor.
Willing to work flexible hours, if necessary.
Update the plate status in Schedule Assistant and maintain a log of plates and blankets made.
QUALIFICATIONS:
2-year degree or 2 to 5 years of production experience in manufacturing environment in work related field.
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
Good problem-solving skills.
Ability to follow instructions.
Good understanding of 4-color process.
Good communication skills
Proficiency mathematical ability including understanding of measurements.
Must be detail-oriented.
