Description
Company Overview Meigs Jewelry is a family-owned jewelry store that has proudly served Tahlequah and the surrounding community for more than 60 years. We are known for taking care of our customers, standing behind our work, and treating every piece entrusted to us with care. As Meigs continues to grow, we are looking for the next generation of jewelry craftspeople and are seeking a Jewelry Repair Apprentice to join our team. Job Summary No jewelry experience is required. We will teach you. The Jewelry Repair Apprentice is an entry-level position designed for someone who enjoys working with their hands, pays attention to detail, and wants the opportunity to learn a valuable skilled trade. You don't need to know how to repair jewelry when you walk through our doors. What we are looking for is aptitude, patience, a strong work ethic, and a genuine desire to learn. Working alongside our experienced jewelry professionals, you will learn the skills necessary to inspect, maintain, repair, and eventually work on the jewelry our customers entrust to Meigs. This is hands-on work that requires concentration, precision, problem-solving, and pride in doing a job correctly. What You'll Learn Through hands-on training and mentoring, you will learn skills such as: Proper handling, inspection, and care of fine jewelry Cleaning and polishing jewelry Using professional jeweler's tools and equipment Sizing and repairing rings Soldering and laser welding techniques Stone setting and tightening Replacing and repairing clasps, chains, prongs, and other components Identifying potential problems or needed repairs Understanding metals, gemstones, and jewelry construction Following repair procedures from intake through final quality inspection Maintaining an organized, clean, and safe workbench Proper documentation and tracking of customer jewelry Quality-control standards and attention to detail Additional jewelry repair and bench skills as your abilities develop What We're Looking For We are hiring for potential—not previous jewelry experience. You may be a great fit if you: Enjoy working with your hands Have good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills Like building, fixing, creating, or figuring out how things work Are patient and able to concentrate on detailed work Take pride in doing things correctly Are dependable and trustworthy Are willing to listen, learn, practice, and accept coaching Have strong attention to detail Are comfortable working with small tools and small objects Can work independently while also being part of a team Understand that developing a skilled trade takes time, repetition, and practice Want to build a skill and grow with a company long-term Experience with woodworking, welding, machining, mechanics, art, crafts, electronics, model building, or other detailed hands-on work can be helpful—but none of it is required. A Career You Can Learn From the Ground Up This isn't a position where we expect you to arrive already knowing the trade. We will teach you. What we can't teach is the desire to learn, the patience to practice, the ability to work with your hands, and the pride that comes from becoming truly good at a craft. If you've ever thought, "I'd love to learn how to do something like that," this may be your opportunity. At Meigs Jewelry, you'll have the chance to learn a specialized skill from experienced professionals while becoming part of a local, family-owned business that has been trusted with some of our customers' most meaningful possessions for generations. Pay: $15.00 - $30.00 per hour Work Location: In person
