Ensures the continuity of service to members, aids in the restoration of services and complies with all safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. Working Conditions Heavy work in outside conditions with varying weather. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multifunctioning printer and photocopier, and calculator. Manual dexterity, repetitive motions, ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds, ability to reach, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, balance, push and pull, walk, stand, drive, speak, multi-tasking, analyze and reason. Required to work after hours and on-call rotation to include weekends and holidays. Essential Functions Under the direction of the Lineman/Lead Lineman, performs all the necessary activities in the construction and maintenance of energized and de-energized overhead and underground residential distribution lines Evaluates potential hazards and determines best course of action utilizing proper safety and protective equipment Patrols the line for defective material, equipment or unsafe conditions and notifies supervisor of problem areas Maintains truck inventory and ensures tools and equipment are in good working order Inspects work after completion to ensure compliance with applicable specifications and codes Observes all safety rules and policies Performs other duties, tasks and special projects as assigned Required Skills Education : High School Diploma or equivalent License & Certification : Valid Texas CDL Driver License and First Aid & CPR Testing : Criminal background check, DOT drug test, Physical Exam, and MVR Other : NESC & RUS specifications and Operate heavy equipment & machinery Special Notes : Very important to this position are: attention to detail, dependability, cooperation, active listening, mathematics, reading comprehension, writing, critical thinking, analytics, speaking, excellent hand-eye coordination, and leadership Important to this position are: persistence, independence, time management, communication and active learning Required Experience Experience : 1 to 3 years' experience in utility construction or electrical field After an offer of employment has been made, the cooperative requires a physical examination which includes both drug and alcohol testing.
