This is more than a kennel position. As an apprentice, you will have the opportunity to learn professional dog training through hands-on experience, observation, repetition, and mentorship from experienced trainers while also helping with the daily care and management of the dogs in our program. Our goal is to help the right person develop the knowledge, skills, confidence, and experience needed to grow into a professional dog trainer. “We Teach People To Speak Dog!” What You'll Do Assist experienced trainers with daily training programs. Learn and practice professional dog-handling and training techniques under supervision. Work with dogs of different breeds, personalities, temperaments, and training levels. Reinforce obedience and appropriate behaviors throughout the day. Assist with training sessions and gradually take on additional training responsibilities as your skills develop. Learn how to communicate training concepts and expectations to dog owners. Develop the knowledge and practical experience necessary to pursue a career as a professional dog trainer. Who We're Looking For Genuinely loves and respects dogs. Is reliable, punctual, hardworking, and responsible. Is patient and confident when working with dogs. Is willing to learn and take direction. Is comfortable receiving constructive feedback and applying it. Has good communication and interpersonal skills. Can work effectively as part of a team. Is organized and able to stay productive in a hands-on environment. Is physically capable of handling, walking, cleaning up after, and caring for dogs throughout the workday. Understands that working with dogs requires consistency, patience, attention to detail, and professionalism. Previous dog-handling, kennel, veterinary, animal-care, or training experience is preferred but is not required. We are willing to train the right person.
