Key Responsibilities Support and communicate the Cooperative's mission, goals, and strategic initiatives. Provide exceptional customer service to members, contractors, and fellow employees. Construct, maintain, and repair overhead and underground electric distribution and transmission facilities. Install poles, anchors, transformers, conductors, underground cable, pad-mounted equipment, and related electrical infrastructure. Respond to service outages and work to restore power safely and efficiently. Perform switching, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities on energized and de-energized electrical systems. Provide excellent service to members through service installations, disconnects, reconnects, meter-related work, and outage response. Read and interpret staking sheets, work orders, and construction plans. Inspect electrical facilities and identify maintenance needs to support system reliability. Operate and maintain vehicles, line trucks, digger derricks, aerial equipment, and other tools used in line construction and maintenance. Complete required documentation and comply with Cooperative policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Participate in emergency response efforts, storm restoration, and an on-call rotation schedule. Work safely at all times while promoting a strong safety culture and looking out for fellow employees and the public. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned. Qualifications Required High school diploma or GED and successful completion of a lineman climbing school; a combination of education training, and experience may be substituted when competency in the role is demonstrated. Valid Class A CDL prior to beginning employment. Ability to maintain a valid driver's license and comply with all vehicle operation requirements. Ability to obtain and maintain concurrent enrollment in the High West Energy Apprenticeship Program and Northwest Lineman College Apprenticeship Program. Ability to live within 25 miles of the assigned home base. Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and work extended hours during outages and emergencies Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment Preferred Previous experience in electric utility construction, maintenance, or line work. Knowledge of overhead and underground distribution systems. Familiarity with RUS guidelines and utility construction practices. Understanding of electrical safety practices, OSHA requirements, and NESC standards. Experience operating line construction equipment and heavy machinery. Work Environment This position involves both indoor and outdoor work and requires working in a variety of weather and environmental conditions. The role may include: Working at heights from poles and aerial devices Exposure to extreme temperatures, wind, precipitation, and other outdoor conditions Operating vehicles, line equipment, and power tools Working near energized electrical equipment Travel for training, storm restoration, and emergency response efforts Extended hours, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments as needed Because High West Energy provides critical infrastructure services, flexibility during emergencies and severe weather events is essential. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and perform physically demanding work throughout the day Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted Ability to work from poles, aerial devices, and other elevated work locations Ability to wear and properly use personal protective equipment Ability to safely perform manual labor requiring dexterity, strength, and coordination Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals to perform essential job functions Safety Commitment Safety is a principal value at High West Energy.
