Happy Hearing Clinic, LLC is seeking a motivated and compassionate individual to participate in a Hearing Instrument Specialist Apprenticeship. This paid apprenticeship combines structured on-the-job learning with related technical instruction to prepare apprentices for a rewarding career in healthcare and eligibility for Kentucky Hearing Instrument Specialist licensure.
Under the supervision of a licensed Doctor of Audiology, the apprentice will develop the knowledge, skills, and professional competencies necessary to assist individuals with hearing loss through hearing evaluations, hearing aids, patient education, and hearing healthcare services. Apprentices will receive hands-on training in hearing aid fitting, hearing aid programming and troubleshooting, ear impressions, hearing conservation, documentation, ethics, patient communication, and applicable state regulations.
Training activities include obtaining patient histories, performing otoscopy, hearing testing procedures, counseling patients, maintaining records, managing inventory, processing repairs, hearing aid fittings and follow-up care, and supporting daily clinic operations.
Apprentices will progressively assume greater responsibility while continuing to work under appropriate supervision. The apprenticeship emphasizes technical skill development, professionalism, customer service, critical thinking, and patient-centered care.
Successful candidates possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, reliability, and a desire to help others improve their quality of life through better hearing. Previous experience in healthcare, customer service, retail, education, or technology is helpful but not required.
