Working under the guidance of experienced craftsmen and journeymen, Apprentices develop foundational skills while contributing to the maintenance and creation of Found's unique inventory collection. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands, values quality craftsmanship, and is eager to learn a variety of fabrication techniques. Apprentices play an important role in supporting the Fab Lab team while building the knowledge and experience necessary to grow within the department. Key Responsibilities Furniture Repair & Fabrication Support Assist with repairing, refinishing, and building furniture and décor items Support projects involving wood, metal, fabric, glass, masonry, and mixed materials Sand, prep, clean, and stage inventory for repair and fabrication Assist with cutting, shaping, smoothing, and assembling materials according to project specifications Learning & Skill Development Learn fabrication, repair, refinishing, and restoration techniques under the guidance of craftsmen and journeymen Demonstrate a willingness to learn new tools, equipment, and processes Participate in hands-on training and development opportunities Continuously build technical skills and product knowledge Workshop Operations Safely operate tools and equipment including hand tools, power tools, sanding equipment, and other workshop machinery Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace Assist with material organization and project staging Support daily shop operations and workflow needs Safety & Quality Standards Follow all workshop safety protocols and PPE requirements Maintain high standards for quality and attention to detail Support shop organization through 6S and cleanliness practices Help ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently Qualifications Passion for craftsmanship and hands-on work Basic knowledge or experience in woodworking, fabrication, metalworking, furniture repair, or related trades preferred Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools (training provided) Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn Positive attitude and strong work ethic Good communication and teamwork skills Ability to follow direction and accept coaching Strong organizational and time-management skills Apprentice Traits We Value: Eager Learner Team Player Detail-Oriented Reliable Curious Hardworking Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work with tools for extended periods Comfortable working in a fabrication shop and warehouse environment Benefits & Compensation Competitive hourly compensation Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and company holidays 401K Retirement Plan Mental Health services Hands-on training and career growth opportunities within the Fab Lab Pay Range: $24-27 / hour Equal Opportunity Employer Found Rental Co. is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE). Ability to communicate effectively, accept coaching, ask questions when unsure, and work collaboratively with the Fab Lab team. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials, tools, and furniture components weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Heavier or bulky items must be handled using team assistance or appropriate lifting equipment. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and periodically bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and perform repetitive tasks such as sanding, preparation, and assembly.
