Throughout the four-year program, apprentices work alongside experienced professionals while developing practical skills in mechanical and electrical systems, equipment operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, safety, and manufacturing processes. Classroom instruction is combined with on-the-job training, allowing apprentices to apply what they learn while progressively building technical knowledge, confidence, and independence. Schedule: Monday - Thursday 7:30am - 4:00pm & Friday 7:30am - 1:00pm City: Lexington (US) North Carolina Contract Type: Full-time Job-Code: 7186 Department: Other Technical / Production RESPONSIBILITIES JOB FUNCTIONS: (Job functions include but are not limited to the following) Participate in a structured four-year apprenticeship program combining classroom instruction with hands-on, on-the-job training. Learn and apply fundamental principles of mechanical and electrical systems, equipment operation, maintenance, and manufacturing processes. Work alongside experienced professionals and apprentice trainers to develop practical technical skills and progressively increase job knowledge and responsibility. Learn to safely operate, inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment and systems as assigned. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and work instructions to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others. Ensure required personal protective equipment (PPE), tools, and safety equipment are properly used and maintained. Complete required coursework, training modules, assignments, and other educational requirements according to established program timelines. Maintain satisfactory progress in both academic coursework and on-the-job training requirements. Collaborate with apprentice trainers, mentors, and supervisors to establish and achieve learning, development, and performance goals. Develop troubleshooting and problem-solving skills by assisting with the identification and resolution of mechanical and electrical equipment issues. Learn to complete required SAP documentation and reports detailing daily work activities and completed tasks. Demonstrate initiative, reliability, accountability, and a willingness to learn throughout the apprenticeship. Embody EGGER Core Principles in all aspects of work activity. SCHEDULE DEMANDS: Standard Operations: 8-hour shifts, Monday - Thursday 7:30am - 4:00pm & Friday 7:30am - 1:00pm, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so. Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, and perform hands-on work for extended periods throughout the assigned shift. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to typical production conditions, including noise, dust, varying temperatures, and moving equipment. Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, electrical tools, equipment, computers, and other electronic devices as required for training and assigned work. Ability to read computer screens, technical documentation, equipment displays, and other electronic devices. Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials, tools, and equipment up to 50 pounds. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all applicable safety requirements. Ability to perform the essential functions of assigned apprenticeship activities, with or without reasonable accommodation. QUALIFICATIONS BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE: Strong interest in developing a career in mechanical, electrical, maintenance, or advanced manufacturing trades. Previous manufacturing or technical experience is not required; relevant coursework, vocational training, hobbies, projects, or hands-on experience is a plus. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and interest in understanding how equipment and systems operate. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and receive instruction, coaching, and feedback from trainers, mentors, and supervisors. Demonstrated reliability, initiative, and willingness to learn. Ability to manage both workplace responsibilities and academic requirements throughout the program. Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Must meet eligibility requirements for North Carolina in-state tuition. SKILLS, EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver's license. Basic computer proficiency. Ability and willingness to learn mechanical and electrical concepts, systems, tools, and equipment. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, technical procedures, and safety requirements. Ability to organize assignments, manage time effectively, and meet established training and academic deadlines. Ability to apply classroom instruction to hands-on learning and workplace assignments.
