What does a First Period Apprentice Lineman do?
Embark on a rewarding journey toward becoming a Journeyman Lineman with Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation's esteemed Apprenticeship Program. To qualify, candidates must be 21 years or older and will progress through the program based on the rigorous standards set by the CEMC Apprenticeship Committee and the U.S. Department of Labor.

A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, along with a Class A Interstate Commercial Driver's License with a 57 Restriction, or the ability to obtain one within 90 days. Candidates must be at least 21 years old and reside within a 30-minute radius of the assigned office, or willing to relocate to meet the 30 minute radius. Climbing Certification REQUIRED, First Aid/CPR Certification, and knowledge of rescue techniques are critical for safety in this role. Familiarity with electric utility operations, line construction, and maintenance practices is crucial, as is teamwork ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
Proficiency with applicable software and tools, along with the ability to operate equipment such as chain saws and air compressors, will enhance your performance in this demanding yet rewarding position.
