Job Description Sheet Metal Worker: Design, create, install, and repair sheet metal products–including roofing, gutters and siding. Fabricate and install fittings and ductwork used for heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems for residential, commercial and industrial construction.
Working Conditions: Work both indoors and outdoors in shops or on site in tight space and on heights using scaffolding, ladders and high-lifts
Locations: Benton, Lincoln, Linn, Marion, Polk and south Yamhill counties
Hours in this four-year program
- 576 related-training (class) hours
- 7,200 on-the-job training hours
Potential for two wage increases per year
- Start at a minimum of $21.07/hour
- 2024 Journey-level wage is $35.11/hour
Minimum qualifications & photocopies required
17 years or older (18 to register) - Photo ID (license or ID card)
High school diploma or GED - Diploma or unofficial transcript with graduation date / GED
Math or placement test scores - (Note: GED scores are not a qualifying document)
- Unofficial high school or college transcript with one year of algebra (C or higher)
- OR- Placement test scores: MTH 70 or higher
Employers may later require - Current driver’s license, insurability to operate company vehicles, drug test or other tests, and ability to lift/move 50-pound material
