Bekum's Apprenticeship program offers a comprehensive opportunity for individuals seeking a career in skilled trades. This program combines on-the-job training with specialized courses at Lansing Community College, fully sponsored by Bekum.  Specialization options include: Electrical Systems, Precision Machining, Fabrication Welding, Mechatronics, and Mechanical Machine Build.

Responsibilities

As an Electrical Apprentice at Bekum America, you will be expected to:

  1. Participate diligently in our structured 4-year apprenticeship program, demonstrating commitment to professional growth and skill development.

  2. Attend and excel in job-related college-level courses at Lansing Community College, fully funded by Bekum, as part of your technical instruction.

  3. Fulfill the requirement of 8,000 work hours at Bekum, actively engaging in on-the-job specialized training and development.

  4. Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and regulations while working with electrical systems and equipment.

  5. Assist journeyman electricians in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.

  6. Study electrical theory, blueprint reading, mathematics, electrical code requirements, and safety practices.

  7. Learn to use a variety of tools and diagnostic equipment essential for electrical work.

  8. Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.

  9. Demonstrate a strong work ethic and reliability, consistently meeting attendance requirements and deadlines.

  10. Upon successful completion of the program, obtain your Journeyman's certificate issued by the US Department of Labor.

  11. Consider pursuing an Associate's Degree through our tuition assistance program to further enhance your qualifications and career prospects.

Skills

The ideal candidate for the Apprentice program will be a high school senior graduating in 2026, or a recent graduate. It is imperative that the applicant possesses the physical and mental capabilities necessary to perform the work of the selected skilled trade. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required for this role.

Required Documentation

Prospective apprentices are required to submit the following documents for consideration:

  1. An up-to-date resume detailing career objective, relevant skills, employment history, and educational background.

  2. Official High School transcripts, current as of the application date.

  3. A formal letter of recommendation from a non-family member, such as a teacher, academic advisor, or employer, attesting to the applicant's character and aptitude.

  4. If applicable, verifiable documentation of academic or professional achievements attained during High School years.
