Starting an apprenticeship can sometimes feel confusing. For many sponsors, WorkHands included, it would be really helpful to have a roadmap that walked us through registering our first occupation and first apprentice.
The Alabama Office of Apprenticeship (AOA) has done just that with a series of videos, starting with documentation for your program.
They are creating a comprehensive Apprenticeship Training Library to help guide their sponsors successfully in the implementation and running of their apprenticeship program. While still in the initial stages, the first section APPRENTICESHIP DOCUMENTS 101 is a font of knowledge.
Here you will find all the necessary documentation you will need for your apprenticeship program, including videos on:
Documents Overview
Standards Document
Appendix A
Appendix D
Anti-Harassment
Progress Evaluations
And tracking progress with WorkHands
It is an invaluable resource to help familiarize yourself with the vocabulary you will hear in the apprenticeship realm. And because registration is just the beginning of your apprenticeship, it looks like AOA has plans for a whole lot more including topics like New Apprentice Orientation and some industry specific videos, too.
All the mysteries that plague a new endeavor are being enlightened in this section, giving new sponsors guidance and support to set up their apprenticeship.
Clearly, AOA is onboard with making apprenticeship simpler. We can't wait to see what's next!
