Perform hand hygiene
Apply personal protective equipment
Follow safety precautions for fall prevention, seizures, etc.
Communication of patient report: end of shift
Communication with patients and families using therapeutic communication methods
Assist with admission and discharge of patients
Reinforce patient education/teaching
Document assessments/tasks in EHR and/or narrative notes
Perform comprehensive physical assessments to include identification of normal and abnormal findings
Obtain vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, respirations, and oxygen saturation
Assist patients with ambulation
Assist patients with mobile assistive devices: walkers, canes, crutches, gait belts, and wheelchairs
Perform restorative care: range of motion exercises and contracture care
Apply/monitor restraints as per facility policy
Perform/assist ADLs: feeding, clothing, care of teeth, hair, toileting
Perform patient hygiene care: bed bath, shower, perineal care
Perform urinary catheter care
Perform ostomy care
Administer enemas
Insert nasogastric tubes
Nasogastric tube management/suctioning
Remove nasogastric tubes
Administer enteral and nasogastric tube feedings
Perform skin care and pressure ulcer prevention, turning
Perform wet-to-dry and/or clean dressing changes
Apply cold and/or heat therapies
Apply sequential compression stockings and/or devices
Administer oxygen therapy and perform basic airway management

Apply sterile gloves
*Performs sterile dressing change. Excluding central line/VAD

Remove bandages/dressings
Remove staples/sutures
Provide care for casts, traction, pins, and air splints
Empty and care for surgical drains such as Jackson-Pratts, Hemovacs, etc.
Perform peripheral blood draw using butterfly needle and syringe- Students are not permitted to collect blood on anyone under 16 years old at any time
*Insert intravenous (IV) catheters and provide IV maintenance- Students are not permitted to start IVs on anyone under 16 years old at any time
*Prepare primary IV fluids and tubing
*Administer peripheral intravenous push medications
*Administer peripheral IVPB medication
*Convert the primary line into a saline lock
*Discontinue IV therapy
*Insert and remove urinary catheters: straight and/or indwelling
Perform routine care of chest tubes
Perform physical assessments on pediatric patients
*Perform endotracheal tube suctioning, care, and dressing changes
Level 3
PSY: Perform subjective assessments on psychiatric patients
PSY: Communicate with patients and families using therapeutic communication methods
OB: Perform subjective and/or physical assessments on pregnant patients and post-partum patients
OB: Apply and monitor external fetal heart tone (FHT) and uterine contraction monitors (TOCO)
OB: Monitor internal FHT and uterine contractions
OB: Administer vitamin K, Hepatitis vaccine, and/or erythromycin ointment
OB: Perform newborn heel stick for PKU
OB: Apply and/or monitor phototherapy
OB: Perform episiotomy care
PEDS: Perform physical assessment on a newborn
Delegate tasks to other unlicensed assistive personnel: NA, tech
Level 4
Administer oxygen therapy and perform advanced airway management
Assign tasks to other healthcare personnel: LPN
Perform patient education/teaching
Maintain and administer fluids through VAD: PICC, midline, central line, port
Administer push medications through VAD: PICC, midline, central line, port
Perform VAD dressing changes per facility policy
