About the Role
We are seeking motivated Maintenance Apprentice to join our manufacturing team in a high\u2011volume, safety\u2011critical paper mill environment. This role is designed for individuals interested in developing a long\u2011term career in industrial maintenance, learning the mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills needed to support continuous operations.
Under the guidance of experienced maintenance technicians, the Maintenance Apprentice will gain hands\u2011on experience maintaining, repairing, and improving industrial equipment while completing required training and certifications.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist maintenance technicians with preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on industrial equipment
* Learn to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
* Perform basic maintenance tasks such as lubrication, parts replacement, alignment, and inspections
* Support equipment installations, rebuilds, and shutdown activities
* Follow all safety policies, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and environmental procedures
* Accurately document work performed in the maintenance management system
* Maintain good housekeeping and tool organization in work areas
* Participate in classroom, online, or on\u2011the\u2011job training as part of the apprenticeship program
Required Qualifications
* High School diploma or GED equivalent.
* Prefer applicants to have at least one year of college or technical training. Transcripts of all schooling (high school and/or college) will be required
* One+ years of work experience or demonstrated knowledge in the following areas: Electrical circuit troubleshooting, plumbing, steam and boiler, pneumatics, confined space, mobile equipment, Mig welding
* Paper industry or industrial, military, construction or mechanical work experience is preferred.
* Successful candidate will be assigned to work in an area shop but is expected to work in all areas of the mill as necessary.
* Willingness to learn mechanical and electrical fundamentals
* Ability to work safely in a heavy industrial environment (heat, noise, moving equipment, heights)
* Ability to work scheduled shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime as required
* Basic math, reading, and problem\u2011solving skills
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks throughout the shift
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
* Enrollment in or completion of a technical, trade, or community college program (Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.)
* Mechanical Journeyman, electrician or Technical/Vocation Certificate as millwright, machinist, lubrication, welding, automotive maintenance or pipefitting preferred
* Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, or industrial equipment
* Familiarity with safety procedures such as LOTO or confined space (training provided)
