This apprenticeship is designed for an individual who is passionate about early childhood education and interested in developing the skills needed to successfully lead and manage a high-quality child care center. If you have experience as a Center Director, there is an option to move into a leadership role more quickly! The Director Apprentice will work closely with the Center Director to gain hands-on experience in daily operations, staff leadership, family engagement, licensing compliance, and program quality. This is a learning-focused role with a clear pathway toward a future Center Director position. Key Responsibilities Program & Operations Support daily center operations to ensure a safe, nurturing, and well-organized environment Learn and assist with licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and center policies Help maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports Leadership & Staff Development Observe, support, and assist teaching staff in classrooms Learn best practices for staff scheduling, onboarding, and performance support Model professionalism, teamwork, and positive communication Family & Community Engagement Greet and communicate with families in a warm, professional manner Assist with family inquiries, enrollment processes, and tours Support family events, conferences, and center communications Administrative & Business Skills Learn tuition management and enrollment tracking Assist with ordering supplies and maintaining inventory Gain exposure to marketing, retention strategies, and community outreach Professional Growth Participate in ongoing training, mentoring, and evaluations Work toward required credentials or certifications for a Center Director role (if not already held) Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent Experience working in a licensed child care or early learning setting Strong interest in leadership and center management Ability to pass background checks and meet state licensing requirements Preferred Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field Supervisory or leadership experience in a child care setting Director credentials or willingness to obtain them Skills & Attributes Passion for early childhood education and child development Strong communication and interpersonal skills Organized, reliable, and eager to learn Ability to lead with empathy, professionalism, and integrity Problem-solving mindset and adaptability What We Offer Hands-on leadership training and mentorship Clear career pathway to Center Director Support for professional development and credentialing Collaborative, mission-driven work environment Competitive pay based on experience and qualifications Job Type: Full-time Pay: From $22.00 per hour Benefits: 401(k) Dental insurance Employee assistance program Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Professional development assistance Vision insurance Education: Bachelor's (Required) Experience: Management: 1 year (Preferred) Work Location: In person
