The Tool & Die Journeymen's main responsibilities are to maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing stamping dies used in metal stamping operations. In addition, they may be called upon to repair fixtures and other tooling This role ensures that tools and dies are safe, reliable, and capable of meeting production, quality, and delivery requirements in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
· Ensure dies are properly repaired and maintained as required to support production, minimize downtime and improve production efficiency.
· Diagnose tooling issues and perform root cause analysis on die-related defects, downtime, or quality concerns
· Perform preventative maintenance on dies, fixtures, and tooling.
· Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, die layouts, and specifications
· Machine tooling components using manual and CNC equipment (mills, lathes, grinders, EDM, etc.)
· Set up and try out dies in the press; make tooling adjustments to achieve part quality, dimensional accuracy, and process capability
· Work with other team members during die changes, new program launches and continuous improvement activities
· Ensure tooling meets customer, print, and IATF 16949 quality requirements
· Maintain accurate tooling build, maintenance and repair documentation
· Follow all lockout/tagout and safety procedures, wear required PPE
Assist with tooling builds, modifications, and tooling vendors as needed
